Last really hot day until we get a dose of the remnants of Tropical Storm Cristobal. It was a good day to enjoy the peonies until they get a blast of rain. Seems that is what happens....they bloom...then boom, they're gone.

We also got out our very own splash pad. There's always this great excitement, until we find out it is "too cold."

But if you stand in the middle, it's okay fun.

Our afternoon drive was a quick drive to Walgreens drive through and Target. Even after the pandemic, I will probably do more of this pick up type of stuff. Target is super fast. You park, and they are out there in 2 minutes.

The late afternoon was interesting. We had a grocery pick up at Hy-vee. We asked the worker how he was doing. He said this shed they use for the groceries was at 97 degrees, and he had been working for 5 hours. When asked how they kept the ice cream frozen, he said, "dry ice."

When we got home, we slowly realized we did not have ice cream, or milk, or other items that we ordered....it turned out we got part of our order, and part of someone else's order.....pinto beans anyone?
After contacting customer support, Hy-vee quickly made amends and sent us the remaining grocery items via DoorDash, and let us keep the other items. That was much appreciated. We ended up with about $40 in free food.
DoorDash is interesting, but I've read about a lot of small food operations losing their tails to these delivery services. Interesting economics of food delivery. Here they are on their way to our house.

June 8 was an interesting day. Let's hope we don't get too much rain on June 9.
