4th of July

The day started with the unveiling of yesterday's craft. He liked the sparkler so much it is just a whir....

Next we went to Festge Park for breakfast scones again. Just a bit steamy, so we tried our best to stay in the shade, but not in the woods where the mosquitoes were at. This small playground did fine for us.

Oh yeah, here's the patriotic selfie as well. Red, white and blue.

When we got home, it was still only in the low-80's, so doing our paintings in the shade of the deck was a good activity to tackle. Using the salt could help make some of the paintings of the fireworks a little starry.

The afternoon drive took us past the city swimming pool and Governor Nelson Park. Just wanted to see what 4th of July was looking like without any parades or the usual activities.

After the nap, it was time to try out the snow cone maker.

Then grill up some food. I'm not generally a picture taker of food, but I was particularly proud of the grilled chicken with cilantro (which I've been making a lot of lately) and the avocado and rice.

Then sitting down to watch the fireworks.

Still can hear fireworks outside at 10:15PM when I am writing this. I think next year we'll have more opportunity to view fireworks in person. Bedtime still comes early for someone who is 3 years and 4 days old.
